The picture was painted by Marcin Zaleski (1796-1877), an outstanding Polish vedutist, author of views of Warsaw and the interiors of the capital's buildings. He served as a professor at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts and educated many later popular painters, such as Wojciech Gerson and Franciszek Kostrzewski. The presented composition was exhibited at the Fine Arts exhibition in Warsaw in 1838.
