PKO Rotunda and the Distance Marker
Hartwig, Edward
ca. 1970
This view shows the PKO Rotunda silhouetted against the Universal building at the corner of Marszałkowska Street and Jerozolimskie Avenue. Unveiled in 1955 during the construction of Parade Square, the Distance Marker in the foreground shows distances from the center of Warsaw to various European capital cities. A similar photograph taken in the summer was published in Hartwig’s 1974 album Warszawa, an unnumbered photo.
