Hartwig, Edward

przed 1983

This view shows the 1779 statue of the Gladiator by Franciszek Pinck. It is one of the two statues of fighting gladiators in front of the north façade of the Palace on the Isle in Royal Baths Park. The gladiators emulate statues from Villa Borghese.
In the foreground, the statue of a lion, one of the two located in the corner of the banister on the north terrace of the Palace on the Isle in Royal Baths Park. The model was executed in 1793 by the royal sculptors: Andre Le Brun with the assistance of Leonardo Galli and formatter Giuseppe Pellegrini. The statue was carved in stone by Franciszek Pinck with the help of Maksymilian Kibitz in 1793.
