Part of the Palace on the Isle terrace in Royal Baths Park

Hartwig, Edward

1970s

This view north-east from the garden shows a section of the terrace of the Palace on the Isle in Royal Baths Park.
In the 1600s, it was built as a baroque pavilion. King Stanislaus Augustus had the bathhouse remodeled between 1772 and 1793 by architects Domenico Merlini and Johann Christian Kammsetzer into a classicist structure. Following a fire and German devastation in the fall of 1944, architect Jan Dąbrowski managed an indispensable reconstruction. It took until 1965.
