Part of the Palace on the Isle terrace in Royal Baths Park

Hartwig, Edward

before 1984

This aerial view shows part of the terrace of the Palace on the Isle in Royal Baths Park.
In the 1600s, it was built as a baroque pavilion. King Stanislaus Augustus had the bathhouse remodeled into a classicist structure between 1772 and 1793 by architects Domenico Merlini and Johann Christian Kammsetzer. Following a fire and German devastation in the fall of 1944, architect Jan Dąbrowski managed an indispensable reconstruction. It took until 1965.
The photograph was published in Hartwig’s 1984 album Warszawa, figure 206.
