Old Town from the district of Praga

This view west from the Praga district end of the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge shows the Old Town. In the foreground, sandbars stretching from the bridge along the east bank of the Vistula River. On the other side of the river, the Old Town structures top the embankment. The image includes the area previously occupied by the Royal Caste along with a surviving section of the wall (or Żeromski’s window), tenement houses from the Zamkowy Square and Kanonia Street side, and rear parts of Jezuicka Street tenements up to Celna Street. In the background, the roof of the Cathedral and the tower of the Jesuit Church, the buildings on Brzozowa Street, and above them, Market Square tenements’ roofs all the way to the houses on Krzywe Koło Street, the tower of the Church of the Holy Spirit, and the roof of the Dominican Church of St. Hyacinth in the New Town. The river side shows stone promenades among lush greenery, a section of the Kubicki Arcades and the Gnojna Góra observation terrace.
