This view east shows part of The Crossing, an installation by Jerzy Kalina. It occupies both sides of a pedestrian crossing on the corner of Mazowiecka and Świętokrzyska Streets.
Jerzy Kalina created the installation for a television show. The statues were erected on the night of December 12th, 1977 and dismantled 7 days later to be transported to the National Museum of Wrocław. The Crossing inspired another artwork, the Anonymous Pedestrian Monument in Wrocław, unveiled in 2005.
Edward Hartwig took a series of photographs of the installation (AN 4495/1/H-AN 4530/H), naming the set Art in the Street.
